A small toadstool with a yellow-ochre to brownish cap and strongly viscid, bright yellow stipe. All surfaces except the gill faces are viscid and there is even a gelatinous layer along the gill edge that can be pulled away with a pin. A very common species on plant debris, especially in coniferous woodland and on heathland.
