Specimen PreparationAlthough the host plant gives a good clue, microscopic examination of spore preparations is often required. If water is used, a wetting agents helps the spores to spread out and makes spore-balls visible.
Identification difficultyFairly straightforward, although some species on cereals cannot be distinuished microscopically.
