Review (by Malcolm Storey)

A well illustrated account of the larger (ie not microscopic) species likely to be found on the shoreline and and in shallow seas of Britain to Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. For once fish don’t dominate and the invertebrates get a far share of the coverage.

The taxonomic section consists of text facing a page of colour paintings. Each species has a short description including habitat and distribution.

An illustrated key (4 pages of line drawings representing the groups) enables rapid locate of the relevant pages of the main guide.

Examine in the Hand ( with x8 or x10 hand lens is also useful)
