| Review (by Malcolm Storey) | This volume covers the familes Yponomeutidae to Elachistidae, including the large genus Coleophora. Each family includes a checklist, very clear line drawings of the genitalia (both sexes) where critical, keys to imagines and detailed species accounts. These include descriptions of the life stages with host plant(s) or pabula, comments on similar species and a vice-county distribution map. Additional keys given include: Coleophorid larval cases by food plant, Coleophora imagines by genitalia, Elachistid genera using male genitalia. An index of host plants is given. An introductory chapter covers: Invasions of Lepidoptera into the British Isles (D.J.L. Agassiz) Richard Lewington’s beautiful paintings are a feature of this work. |
