Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd.
The foremost British natural history publisher of the early 20th Century and responsible for the excellent Wayside and Woodland Series which included volumes covering all but the most obscure branches of the subject.
They made their real money almost by accident when they published Beatrix Potter's tales of animal whimsy. But (contrary to what Hollywood would have you believe!) Beatrix was a serious mycological researcher and artist. Her paintings were eventually used to illustrate one of Warne's later natural history volumes: Wayside and Woodland Fungi (W.P.C.K. Findlay, 1967.)
