Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Dichotomous key to these small parasitic hymenoptera.

As far as the biology is known they are all parasitic on other insects, either primarily (on Neuroptera, Psylloidea, Diptera [inc Syrphidae], Siricidae) or secondarily (on aphids via Aphidiinae [Hymenoptera: Braconidae] or Aphelinae [Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea]). Rearing records will be of particular interest, and knowledge of the host helps with identification.

Examine Stereo Microscope
Specimen PreparationCollect into 90% alcohol, stored in the cool and dark. Side-mount on card points etc. Apart from large Ibalia, pinning, even micropinning destroys too much information. Knowledge of the host is useful.
