Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Machiel has been working on Entolomataceae for many years, and has published snapshots of his work at several stages. This is now quite old so it’s probably better to get the same author’s 1992 work, with the 2004 supplement.

The spore drawings in the present work are different from those in the 1992 monograph. These appear rounder and are often drawn from above, whereas those in the later work are more angled and generally drawn from the side view as Noordeloos recommends. The comparison is instructive, since spore shape is so critical in this group. As you get your eye in, the angles become more obvious.
