Review (by Malcolm Storey)

A beautifully produced book on polyporaceous fungi.

Keys are given to families and genera starting on page 67, and to species after each short generic account. 271 species are then described with drawings of the microscopy, although a few more spp are included in the keys.

The final 200 pages are beautiful colour plates of photographs of these fungi, taken in the field.

The main text is in Italian, but the keys are also given in English, as are summaries of the main macroscopic and microscopic features for each species described.

Examine Compound Microscope ( Stereo Microscope is also useful)
Specimen PreparationSpore prints and microscopy of hyphal structure, spores, cystidia etc
