Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Explores the use of computerised, habitat association-based prediction of invertebrate faunas to predict the changes to the Sciomyzid fauna, monitored under different farmland management. The predictions matched the findings in this rather extreme case where disused land (diverse fauna) was compared with productive farmland (almost no fauna). Sciomyzids are one of the few invertebrate groups where the necessary data has been collated.

The paper also includes habitat notes on the Sciomyzids in the study area.
