Review (by Malcolm Storey)Reports a study of this species in Holland where it was found to grow in early successional habitats on almost bare ground on silty to gravelly sand close to open water. This small toadstool was found in spring (March/April/May) and, to a lesser extent, in autumn (November). Growing in an unpromising habitat at an unpopular time of year, it is probably overlooked.
