Review (by Malcolm Storey)

The book both describes the conifers and their place in our landscape. Each species includes a list of gardens or collections where the tree was growing with the then dimensions at that site.

The descriptions are fuller than the author’s later Field Guide and the drawings, although by the same artist (but not the same drawings), are clearer (perhaps because there is more space so they can both show more of the leaf spray and be reproduced larger)
