Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Crayfish trapping regulations in the UK, and threats from non-native species.

Essential advice for would-be crayfish trappers. Download the leaflet: "Using the right trap - a guide to crayfish trapping" which outlines the legal situation, whether you want to trap for scientific survey or for food.

It is illegal for non-native crayfish to be released into, or returned to, the wild. They should be dispatched in a humane fashion, eg by leaving overnight in a domestic freezer.
