Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Beautifully produced and well illustrated guide to this group of difficult-to-identify ground beetles.

The fully-illustrated key is followed by hints for identifying each species, then a set of good photographs of a nicely set specimen of almost every species. The photos were all taken with the same equipment and lighting, and processed with the same confocal image synthesis software, so they are directly comparable for colour, shine and surface texture. They’re also sufficiently detailed to benefit from viewing at 150%.
