Review (by Malcolm Storey)

A detailed taxonomic account of the eye-lash fungi of the World.

The first half of the work is a cladistic analysis. This is followed by the key to species (p52) based mainly on ascospore characters, then the individual species accounts.

Examine with a Microscope using 100x oil-immersion ( Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is also useful)
Specimen PreparationSections or squashes in water, Cotton blue, and/or Melzer’s reagent.
Identification difficultyA tricky group. Identification is largely based on spore ornamentation and excellent microscope optics are needed to correctly interpret this.
