A common parasite fly whose larve are internal parasites of the caterpillars of a variety of moths including Orthosia spp. (the quakers and drabs), especially the Clouded Drab.
The eggs are laid on the leaf and the newly-hatched larva remains attached to the egg-shell until a suitable host passes by.
